Job summary

Moody's Data Platform Team is seeking an experienced backend/data engineer to operate a self-hosted SQL Server estate on Linux and Kubernetes in AWS. You will ensure availability, performance, and data integrity for Moody's Insurance Solutions products.

Responsibilities include managing Availability Groups, tuning performance, enforcing security and auditability, and building CDC pipelines with latency control. Strong AI and cloud IaC exposure are pluses.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building backend or data platform systems in production environments.
• Strong SQL Server administration, tuning, and Linux experience.
• Backup, restore, and high availability with Always On.
• Database security with encryption, auditing, and key rotation.
• Proactive monitoring and production Kubernetes for stateful workloads.

Responsibilities

• Operate and optimize a self-hosted SQL Server estate on Linux and Kubernetes.
• Manage availability, performance, and data integrity for Moody's Insurance Solutions products.
• Configure and exercise Availability Groups; perform failovers and restores.
• Tune query performance and enforce baselines with drift detection and maintenance automation.
• Ensure security and auditable access, encryption, and key rotation; protect data integrity.
• Build data pipelines and CDC workflows with latency control and schema evolution.
• Manage AWS storage, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC for database changes.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response.
