Job summary

Moody's is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Insurance Solutions data platform. You will define architecture, drive reliability across teams, and own the evolution of the lakehouse and SQL Server workloads in AWS.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software and data platform engineering across multiple teams.
• Deep SQL Server expertise: internals, performance, HA, DR, capacity planning.
• Experience with SQL Server on Linux and Kubernetes for data workloads.
• Strong AWS experience across EKS, EC2, S3, IAM, networking.
• Lakehouse experience (Iceberg/Delta) in production environments.
• CDC/replication architecture at scale with robust operational standards.
• Security/compliance architecture with encryption, auditing, and key management.
• Strong backend in C#/.NET with production-grade code and docs.
• AI expertise with responsible adoption and risk governance.
• Proven leadership mentoring engineers and guiding complex problems.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and long-term roadmap for Moody's Insurance Solutions data platform.
• Own reference architecture, including HA/DR, storage, tenancy, patch strategy.
• Define availability contracts and lead drills to prove them.
• Evaluate build-vs-buy options and standardize configuration baselines.
• Own security and regulatory posture with required evidence.
• Architect lakehouse integration from SQL Server to lakehouse with schema evolution.
• Plan 12–24 month platform roadmap aligned with business priorities.
• Mentor engineers and lead complex incidents; represent platform in architecture forums.
