Job summary

MISUMI Americas in Schaumburg, IL is seeking a senior data engineer to own our Snowflake warehouse, dbt project, and ELT pipelines. You’ll work with business stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable data models, define metrics, and ensure data quality and security for reporting.

You will administer Snowflake, build production dbt models, and manage ETL/ELT tooling (Fivetran, Airbyte, Stitch, etc.), while mentoring teammates and driving efficiency with best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data-related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years designing, building, and operating data pipelines and warehouses.
• 6+ years Snowflake production experience including admin tasks.
• 5+ years building/maintaining production dbt projects with CI/CD.
• 5+ years working with ETL/ELT tools (Fivetran, Airbyte, Stitch, Matillion, Informatica, Talend).
• Experience with agentic coding tools and tooling integrations for data work.
• Expert SQL with performance tuning and complex queries.
• Daily use of Git and GitHub PR workflows.

Responsibilities

• Administer Snowflake users, roles, grants, warehouses, and security policies.
• Design and maintain dbt models across staging to semantic layer with tests and docs.
• Build and operate ELT pipelines into Snowflake using Fivetran and related tools.
• Serve as primary technical resource for modeling and pipeline work from intake to production.
• Translate business needs into data models and metric definitions; document specs.
• Proactively propose improvements to data, modeling, or automation.
• Perform impact analysis before changes with rollback planning.
• Own the Git and GitHub workflow for the dbt project and CI/CD processes.
