Job summary

Coinbase, a remote-first company, is hiring for a Data Engineering Platform Engineer on the Data Platform team. You will build the SDKs, self-service apps, and abstractions that empower thousands of pipelines and analyses.

You will collaborate with data analysts, ML engineers, and security teams, turning requests into scalable patterns while ensuring data quality, security controls, and observable pipelines.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data engineering experience in large-scale environments.
• Strong backend development with Python or Java.
• Proficient in SQL, ETL/ELT, and data quality.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or similar platforms.
• Familiar with data pipelines, Git, Linux, and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Build abstractions and reusable components to scale pipelines.
• Develop data integration and processing SDKs for data teams.
• Create self-service apps for analysts and data scientists.
• Implement data security, quality tracking, lineage, and auditing.
• Collaborate with upstream/downstream teams to expose good data APIs.
• Translate requests into scalable data patterns.
