Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to help build and operate internal data systems that power analytics, ML, and end-user experiences. You’ll develop scalable pipelines, SDKs, and self-service apps, enabling analysts and data scientists to work confidently without understanding the plumbing.

You will design data models with strong data governance, contribute to security tooling, and collaborate across teams to expose robust data APIs for downstream use.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or similar roles.
• Strong Python or Java backend development skills.
• Fluent SQL for ETL/ELT, data quality, and analysis.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or similar.
• General experience working with data systems or data pipelines.
• Working knowledge of git, Linux, and Docker.
• Airflow, BI, and AI tool experience.

Responsibilities

• Build clean software abstractions and modular components to support thousands of pipelines as we scale.
• Build and maintain data integration and processing SDKs used by data teams and internal services.
• Design and build self-service apps for analysts and data scientists to manage pipelines.
• Develop tooling for data security and observability across storage and access layers.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to expose well-designed data APIs, models, and metrics.
