Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a Lead Data Platform Engineer for a fully remote role open to Maine-based candidates. You will own end-to-end data architectures, build scalable pipelines, and guide technical teams delivering customer-facing data solutions.

You will design data models, ingestion frameworks, and reusable libraries, collaborating with product and solution architects to translate business goals into robust technical designs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering, analytics, or platform development.
• Expert Python and SQL.
• Proven success designing scalable data processing solutions.
• Experience leading technical initiatives from requirements to delivery.
• Strong ETL/ELT and data integration background.
• Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects and stakeholders.
• Experience implementing testing strategies, code quality standards, and best practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in Agile software environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end data solutions for scientific environments.
• Design reusable data models, ingestion frameworks, and transformations.
• Build and optimize large-scale data pipelines for critical operations.
• Develop parsing and schema-generation for diverse data formats.
• Create reusable engineering components and shared libraries.
• Collaborate with architects and product teams to translate goals into designs.
• Ensure reliable data delivery with automated testing and validation.
• Build analytical apps, dashboards, and visualization tools for customers.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency and code quality.
• Lead technical discussions and contribute to architecture decisions.
• Coach junior engineers and provide hands-on guidance.
• Partner with stakeholders to deliver measurable value.
