Job summary

VIA is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to unite data engineering with DevOps. You'll design secure data infra, build real-time and batch pipelines, and drive observability and performance. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, reliable data delivery and governance across systems.

You’ll help operationalize AI models and ensure production readiness, contributing to a data-driven, secure AI approach across missions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a data-driven role with platform experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in science, mathematics, engineering, or related field.
• Strong Python scripting and automation experience.
• Proven data architecture with SQL/NoSQL schemas.
• Experience tuning performance and avoiding bottlenecks.
• Hands-on with AWS/Azure data services and IaC tooling.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and observability.
• Experience building resilient data pipelines (Dagster, Airflow).
• Knowledge of modern dev practices: Git, CI/CD, IaC.

Responsibilities

• Architect and provision secure data infrastructure using IaC.
• Engineer and deploy resilient data pipelines for real-time and batch processing.
• Monitor, alert, and optimize data infrastructure performance.
• Collaborate with application teams on queries and pipeline logic.
• Promote data governance, health, and security best practices.
• Operationalize AI models with versioning and containerization.
