Job summary

Lyric is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Platform team. You will design and own data pipelines, implement the canonical data model, and ensure data quality and observability across a multi-tenant platform. Our stack includes Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, and Python.

This is a hands-on role working with the Principal Data Engineer and mentoring others. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US; visa sponsorship is not provided. Remote - US, full-time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, building and owning production data pipelines.
• Strong Snowflake experience, including streams and tasks, warehouse sizing and performance tuning, SQL optimization, and RBAC.
• Production experience with dbt and Airflow, including structuring models and DAGs for maintainability.
• Strong programming in Python and deep SQL proficiency.
• Solid data modeling skills for multi-consumer schemas.
• Experience building testing and data quality validation into pipelines.
• Disciplined engineering practices: version control, code review, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Ability to translate consumer needs to constraints and tradeoffs clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own data pipelines in our unified framework using Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake.
• Implement the canonical data model in production, contributing to architectural direction.
• Build automated validation and data quality checks into pipelines at defined stages.
• Instrument pipelines for observability, including freshness, lineage, and failure alerting.
• Contribute to self-service capabilities for consuming teams to declare data needs.
• Partner with consuming teams to translate requirements into reliable data outputs.
• Migrate and consolidate existing data workloads onto the unified framework.
• Participate in on-call rotation for pipeline and data quality incidents.
• Maintain high engineering bar: version control, testing, code review, CI/CD, documentation.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical level of the team.
