Job summary

Lyric is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for the Data Platform team to build the data foundation powering its healthcare decision intelligence platform. You will design and deliver pipelines in a unified framework, implement the canonical data model in production, and ensure observability and data quality across multi-tenant data domains.

You will work with Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, and Python, mentor engineers, and help teams declare data needs while migrating workloads to the shared model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, building and owning production data pipelines.
• Strong Snowflake experience, including streams and tasks, warehouse sizing and performance tuning, SQL optimization, and RBAC knowledge.
• Production experience with dbt and Airflow, including how to structure models and DAGs for maintainability.
• Strong programming in Python and deep SQL proficiency.
• Solid data modeling skills for shared vs. consumer-specific schemas.
• Experience building testing and data quality validation into pipelines.
• Disciplined engineering practices: VCS, testing, CI/CD, documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own data pipelines using Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake.
• Implement the canonical data model in production and contribute to architectural direction.
• Build automated validation and data quality checks at pipeline stages.
• Instrument pipelines for observability: freshness, lineage, and failure alerts.
• Enable self-service data delivery with governed outputs rather than bespoke builds.
• Partner with invoicing, analytics, and reporting teams to translate needs into data.
• Migrate and consolidate workloads onto the unified framework without disrupting consumers.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident reviews; ensure durable fixes.
• Maintain high engineering standards: version control, testing, code review, CI/CD, and documentation.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical level across the team.
