Job summary

Lyric is seeking a Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and scale cloud-native data platforms powering online processing, analytics, and machine learning. Remote US role.

You will work with AWS services, PostgreSQL/Aurora and Snowflake, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with data, product, and AI teams.

The role emphasizes reliability, cost optimization, security, IaC, CI/CD, and on-call rotations to ensure operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Cloud based Data Infrastructure, Database Engineering, or related roles.
• Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience with AWS Data Services (Aurora, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, Glue, Athena etc.).
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL/Aurora and Snowflake or similar modern data platforms.
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting or programming languages (Python, Shell, etc.).
• Hands‑on experience using Terraform and GitLab to build and operate CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure automation.
• Demonstrated experience optimizing database performance and operating high‑throughput data systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure on AWS using Aurora PostgreSQL, RDS, S3, and Snowflake.
• Implement and operate core data systems across ingestion, transformation, storage, and orchestration layers.
• Ensure high levels of reliability, performance, availability, and cost efficiency of data platforms and environments.
• Apply and promote best practices in data modeling, observability, infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD automation.
• Support and scale distributed data systems (e.g., PostgreSQL/Aurora, Snowflake, Kafka, caching) across environments.
• Partner with application, analytics, and AI teams to enable efficient and self-service data access and usage.
• Participate in design reviews, contribute to technical standards, and mentor junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive continuous improvements in data platform operations.
• Support operational excellence by participating in on-call rotations and off-hours incident response when required.
