Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Senior Data Engineer II to design data platforms, APIs, and scalable Spark workflows in a fast-growing data-enabled environment. You’ll own data pipelines, APIs, and the platform, collaborating across teams to deliver reliable data products at scale.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, data science, IT, or related field.
10+ years as a software engineer with data focus or as a data engineer.
8+ years building production-grade data pipelines and data modeling.
5+ years Spark/PySpark in production, with optimization experience.
3+ years developing and managing Python-based APIs.
Strong Python and SQL, and cloud data warehouse experience (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks).

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain end-to-end data pipelines and data platform components.
Build and manage Spark/PySpark workflows across Databricks and cloud.
Design data APIs and ensure API uptime and observability.
Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams on data architecture.
Mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional data initiatives.
