Janus Henderson Investors is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to drive architectural direction for data platform subsystems and cross-product concerns. You will influence standards, craft resilient data products, and shape AI-enabled tooling within a regulated environment.

The role requires deep technical craft, domain awareness, applied AI fluency, and mentorship of junior engineers as part of a hybrid work model in Colorado.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in at least one data platform pillar (Snowflake internals, dbt, orchestration).
• Advanced SQL skills with performance tuning and cost optimization.
• Strong Python engineering capability and reusable libraries.
• Experience designing cross-product systems with measurable downstream impact.
• Experience weighing build-versus-buy and maintainability under delivery pressure.

Responsibilities

• Own design and delivery of complex data capabilities across subsystems.
• Design systems spanning multiple products or domains with low operational risk.
• Provide technical expertise in platform pillars and build reusable assets.
• Diagnose performance, reliability and cost issues at multiple levels.
• Mentor engineers and lead design reviews; communicate trade-offs to stakeholders.
