Job summary

Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Datastore team, focusing on back-end data infrastructure such as PostgreSQL data models, Kafka pipelines, and a GraphQL API. You will design and integrate new services for data and event processing, own pipelines delivering dataset snapshots, and collaborate across teams to unlock new clinical study workflows.

You should write SQL by hand, reason about schema design, and work in a fully remote role across the US.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development experience, with data platforms focus
• Strong SQL skills; PostgreSQL as application database
• Experience with Kafka or equivalent streaming systems
• Proficiency in Julia or Python; willingness to learn Julia
• Experience with containerized deployments (Kubernetes) and IaC (Terraform/Helm)
• GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js) experience

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, scientific and clinical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data integrations and services
• Design, implement, and scale data pipelines and APIs for the datastore
• Draft RFCs to guide feature discovery and technical design
• Ensure data correctness, idempotency, and robust behavior under partial failure
• Improve operational robustness through documentation, tooling, and dashboards
