Job summary

Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Datastore team to design and scale backend data infrastructure. You will shape PostgreSQL data models, Kafka pipelines, and a GraphQL API, delivering robust data services for scientists and partners.

This fully remote role in the United States offers flexible work arrangements and a collaborative, async-friendly culture. You will write SQL by hand, optimize schemas and queries, and collaborate across platform and application teams

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience, with data platforms
• Strong SQL skills and PostgreSQL experience
• Hands-on with data streaming using Kafka or equivalent
• Proficiency in Julia or Python
• Experience with Kubernetes and IaC (Terraform/Helm)
• Experience with GraphQL and TS/JS

Responsibilities

• Partner with product, scientific, and clinical stakeholders to translate requirements into data platform solutions
• Implement features with high standards for data integrity and maintainability
• Draft RFCs for complex feature discovery and design
• Ensure correct data movement with completeness and idempotency
• Improve operational robustness via documentation, tooling, and dashboards
