Job summary

Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to join our Datastore team. You will shape architecture, design scalable data models, and build event-driven pipelines that power the Beacon Platform across studies and partners.

You will coach engineers, collaborate with product and science leads, and drive RFCs to align architectural direction and standards. You’ll champion data integrity, maintainability, and cross-team collaboration in a highly asynchronous, remote-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend development, focused on data engineering and data platforms.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with streaming and event processing (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or Kinesis).
• Familiarity with containerized deployments and Kubernetes.
• Comfort with IaC tools like Terraform or Helm.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and standards for Beacon Datastore.
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to implement scalable data models.
• Draft RFCs and lead design phases for complex features.
• Mentor engineers and promote asynchronous, remote-friendly collaboration.
