Duluth Trading Company seeks a Principal Data Platform Engineer to own the architecture, reliability, and evolution of the enterprise data platform spanning analytical data and master data management. This senior role drives analytics, reporting, AI readiness, and data integrity across the company.

The role covers platform engineering, architecture roadmap, and technical leadership with a focus on cost efficiency and data governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 15+ years IT experience with 5+ years in senior or lead roles.
• Expert SQL, Python, and data modeling fundamentals.
• Deep expertise in modern data stack: GCP, BigQuery, dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, Looker, Hex.
• Strong IaC background; Terraform on GCP ideal.
• Hands-on AI integration into analytics platforms.
• Experience owning master data platforms (Pimcore).
• Leadership with platform roadmaps and stakeholder partnership.
• U.S. work authorization without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and operations of the enterprise data platform including ingestion, transformation, warehousing and BI layers.
• Manage cloud infrastructure as code and ensure repeatable deployments.
• Implement monitoring, observability, and data quality frameworks.
• Govern Pimcore MDM and define item/location data standards.
• Define and evolve the data architecture roadmap with engineering leadership.
• Lead data engineers and Looker developers; mentor team members.
• Drive cost optimization and operational reliability across the platform.
• Enable AI capabilities and establish data governance standards.
