Job summary

Duluth Trading Company seeks a Principal Data Platform Engineer to own the architecture, reliability, and evolution of the enterprise data platform spanning analytics, BI, and master data management. This senior role drives ingestion, transformation, and warehouse layers while guiding platform standards and cost optimization.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of IT experience, including extensive data engineering and platform work.
• Expert-level SQL and Python for data engineering; strong data modeling fundamentals.
• Deep expertise across the modern data stack: GCP, BigQuery, dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, Looker, Hex; orchestration tools such as Dagster or Airflow.
• Strong infrastructure-as-code experience, particularly Terraform on GCP.
• Hands-on experience integrating AI capabilities into analytics platforms and governing master data platforms (Pimcore or equivalent).
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and operations of the enterprise data platform including ingestion, transformation, warehousing, and BI/serving layers.
• Manage cloud infrastructure as code, ensure repeatable deployments, and implement monitoring and data quality frameworks.
• Own Pimcore MDM end-to-end as the canonical source for item and location master data and govern data domains.
• Define and evolve the data architecture roadmap; set standards for data modeling, pipeline design, and platform integration.
• Drive platform cost optimization and operational excellence; lead AI enablement and data governance initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership for a team of data engineers and Looker developers; communicate roadmaps to executives.
