Job summary

Better Trucks is seeking a Principal Data Platform Engineer to own the architecture and execution of our core data platform. You will partner with Analytics Engineering, BI, Finance, and Ops to standardize multi-source data into trusted models that power pricing, forecasting, and reporting.

Location options include Remote (US) or Hybrid (Chicago). You will lead staff-level decisions, design scalable data models, and guide cloud-warehouse strategy while ensuring data quality and governance across

Qualifications

Proven expertise designing standardized data models from diverse sources.
Experience building and maintaining production data pipelines in a cloud warehouse.
Strong SQL and Python skills for data engineering and tooling.
Familiar with orchestration and data quality monitoring practices.

Responsibilities

Own core BigQuery and Dataform pipelines, including schema design, incremental modeling, testing, and docs.
Build and operate ingestion into the data warehouse via Datastream and Cloud Functions.
Set technical direction for orchestration (Airflow) and manage dependencies and costs.
Drive data integrity with anomaly detection, monitoring, and incident response.
Review designs and code from other data engineers and raise the technical bar.
