Job summary

Transamerica seeks a Principal Data Engineer to design and develop modern data architectures, guiding cloud and on‑premise data platforms. You will lead data pipelines, APIs, and governance to support operational needs and analytic models across the enterprise.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in data engineering, hands‑on with big data stacks, real‑time streaming, and CI/CD within cloud environments. Excellent collaboration and communication are required.

Qualifications

• Seven years of data engineering, analytics, warehousing or related experience.
• Six years building big data and real-time streaming architectures on premises and in the cloud.
• Three years with Linux, shell scripting, and DevOps CI/CD practices.
• Strong SQL for profiling, analysis, and extraction; familiarity with data science concepts.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build and support enterprise data infrastructure and tools.
• Design scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data, batch and real‑time.
• Lead data APIs and data delivery services for operational processes and analytics.
• Select and integrate data tools and ensure data quality, lineage and governance.
• Contribute to strategy, budgeting and execution for data initiatives.
