Job summary

Empower Retirement, LLC is seeking a Principal Engineer, Data to lead the design, development, modernization, and operation of enterprise data platforms and analytics solutions. You will shape scalable data engineering patterns and enable reliable, governed data products for reporting, analytics, and AI/ML use cases.

You will mentor engineers, guide cloud-native transformations, oversee ETL/ELT and data pipelines, data models, and governance while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 12+ years in software/data/analytics platform development.
• Experience designing and maintaining complex data solutions across multiple systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical feasibility analysis for data initiatives based on business and regulatory needs.
• Lead design and implementation of scalable data engineering solutions including pipelines and data models.
• Provide leadership for data architecture, ETL/ELT design, code reviews, performance tuning, and production support.
• Guide modernization of legacy data/reporting platforms to cloud-native architectures.
• Design and oversee data pipelines using Python, Spark, SQL, and orchestration tools.
• Support enterprise analytics platforms including data warehouses and BI environments.
• Collaborate with analysts, stakeholders, architects, and product owners to translate needs into data solutions.
• Define and execute the roadmap for data engineering, analytics enablement, and automation.
• Establish engineering standards, patterns, testing practices, and data quality controls.
• Ensure data solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant with enterprise standards.
• Mentor engineers and drive skill development across teams.
