Job summary

Sardine is seeking a Senior Data/ML Engineer to own the data and machine learning foundation for compliance decisions. You will design and maintain end-to-end pipelines that transform raw telemetry and signals into features used by models across fraud and KYC on a remote-first team.

You will collaborate with data scientists, backend engineers, and fraud analysts to raise the bar on production ML, implement feature stores, and drive architecture choices that scale with the platform’s growth.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building production data and ML systems, with ownership of pipelines and models.
• Deep Python and strong SQL; fluent in distributed processing frameworks (Spark/Beam/Flink).
• Experience with a modern cloud data stack (GCP preferred) and Docker/Kubernetes/Terraform/CI/CD.
• Practical ML engineering depth: feature stores, training/serving skew, drift detection, explainability.
• Domain experience in fraud, risk, payments, or regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Own the data ingestion layer with streaming and batch pipelines (Pub/Sub, Dataflow/Beam, Spark on Dataproc).
• Build and evolve the feature platform for streaming and batch processing with sub-second serving.
• Establish feature correctness, drift monitoring, and train/serve parity checks.
• Productionize fraud/identity ML models with training pipelines (Vertex AI, Kubeflow) and automated retraining.
• Engineer KYC/AML signals and integrate multi-vendor data into features for models.
• Integrate 30+ data sources in parallel, manage failover, caching, and data residency.
• Own warehouse and modeling layer in BigQuery, staging-to-mart data flows.
• Design entity resolution and graph data across clients; enable secure, compliant pipelines.
• Set technical direction, write design docs, and mentor engineers and data scientists.
