Job summary

Sardine is hiring a Senior Data/ML Engineer to own the data and ML foundation powering our compliance decisions in real time. You’ll oversee end-to-end pipelines, feature platforms, and production ML models that support KYC, AML, and identity screening.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building production data and ML systems with ownership of pipelines and models.
• Strong Python and SQL; fluent with distributed processing (Spark/Beam/Flink).
• Experience with a modern cloud data stack (GCP preferred) and tooling like Docker/Kubernetes.
• Practical ML engineering depth: feature stores, training/serving skew, drift detection, explainability.
• Proven ability to ship end-to-end data/ML platforms in a regulated, high-volume environment.
• Comfort communicating complex models and pipeline designs to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own data ingestion and feature pipelines across streaming and batch paths.
• Develop and evolve the feature platform for real-time and batch use cases.
• Establish feature correctness with tests, drift checks, and train/serve parity.
• Productionize fraud/identity ML models with retraining, champion/challenger, and rollback.
• Engineer KYC/AML signals and integrate multiple data sources for robust features.
• Own data warehouse modeling in BigQuery and the pipeline governance framework.
• Design entity resolution and graph data linking customers, devices, and accounts.
• Ensure security, encryption, and data residency requirements are met.
• Mentor engineers and data scientists; define what to build versus buy.
