Job summary

Slalom is seeking a Senior Database Migration Engineer to drive an AI-powered modernization platform that automates migrations from legacy databases to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL. You will lead complex migration planning, validation, and data integrity in collaboration with cloud architects and AI engineers.

The role requires deep experience with DB2, Sybase ASE, and Oracle, and hands-on work with AWS DMS and SCT to enable scalable migrations.

Qualifications

8+ years of database engineering, administration, or migration experience.
Expertise with DB2, Sybase ASE, and Oracle databases.
Experience leading heterogeneous migrations to PostgreSQL or cloud-native databases.
Hands-on experience with AWS DMS and SCT.
Strong SQL development and data validation skills.
Ability to communicate with architects, DBAs, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex database migration issues across legacy databases.
Serve as the technical escalation point for AI-driven schema conversions and reconciliation failures.
Guide migration strategy design from legacy databases to PostgreSQL or cloud-native services.
Support AWS DMS and SCT implementations, including full-load and CDC migration patterns.
Validate schema transformations, procedures, queries, and data conversions.
Identify migration edge cases and collaborate to improve automation and AI migration agents.
Develop reusable migration templates and validation frameworks.
