Job summary

Salesforce is seeking an accomplished Staff Software Engineer for the Data Infrastructure team. You will design, build, and operate scalable data services powering analytics and ML use-cases at scale, serving as a senior, cross-functional lead responsible for uptime and cost efficiency.

You will mentor engineers, champion observability, and collaborate with security and data teams to improve reliability and developer productivity across the data ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience, including data-intensive systems or data platforms.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proven experience building, deploying, and operating distributed infrastructure at scale.
• Experience with big data and infra tech such as EMR, Airflow, Pinot, Trino, Hive Metastore, Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in Python, Golang, Bash, and SQL.
• Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions), Vault, Terraform, Chef, and Grafana.
• Solid understanding of reliability, observability, and cost-efficiency principles.
• Hands-on experience with data pipelines or data engineering workflows is a plus.
• Ownership mindset and autonomous delivery focus.
• Experience building agentic workflows and AI skills is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reliable and scalable data infrastructure powering Slack’s analytics, ML, and data-driven decision-making.
• Serve as DRI for multiple core data services, ensuring uptime and performance.
• Improve security, cost efficiency, and developer experience across the data stack.
• Build automation and self-service tools for data teams to manage workflows.
• Collaborate with data engineering, platform, and security teams on scalable, governed solutions.
• Enhance observability, monitoring, and alerting with Grafana and related tooling.
• Mentor engineers and model ownership and operational excellence.
