Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Data Infrastructure team. You will design, build, and operate scalable data services like Pinot/Trino, Airflow, and new AI-forward workflows at massive scale.

You will mentor engineers, improve observability and security, and drive cost-efficient, reliable data platforms enabling analytics, ML, and data-driven decisions across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience, with data-intensive systems or data platforms.
• Proven experience in building, deploying, and operating distributed infrastructure at scale.
• First-class communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Strong background with big data and infrastructure technologies such as EMR, Airflow, Pinot, Trino, Hive Metastore, Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in Python, Golang, Bash, and SQL.
• Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions), Vault, Terraform, Chef, and Grafana.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reliable and scalable data infrastructure powering analytics, ML, and data-driven decision making.
• Serve as DRI for multiple core data services ensuring uptime, reliability, and performance.
• Lead improvements in security, cost efficiency, and developer experience across data platforms.
• Build automation and self-service tools for data teams to manage workflows.
• Collaborate with data engineering, platform, and security teams on scalable, well-governed solutions.
• Mentor engineers and promote ownership and operational excellence.
