Job summary

McKesson is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Governance to lead data governance and data enablement across the organization. You will build and manage a team of domain data analysts and stewards, translating governance strategies into practical services that improve data quality, lineage, metadata, and cataloging.

This hands-on leadership role requires change-management finesse and the ability to influence partners without formal authority while ensuring compliance with privacy and security

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience with 9+ years of professional work experience and 1+ years in supervisory roles.
• Experience implementing or operating data governance or data enablement programs in a complex organization.
• Knowledge of data governance principles including data quality, metadata management, lineage, cataloging, and stewardship.
• Experience leading teams or cross-functional initiatives and influencing without formal authority.
• Ability to translate governance policies into operational processes with business and tech stakeholders.
• Strong communication and change-management skills with ability to drive adoption and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop domain data analysts and data stewards for data governance and quality controls.
• Implement and maintain data enablement framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
• Operationalize data governance across data quality, metadata, lineage, cataloging, and data product controls.
• Partner with domain data officers, owners, enterprise architecture, IT security, legal, compliance, and technology teams.
• Align analysts with business domains to build subject-matter expertise and serve as data contacts.
• Identify and remediate data quality issues with owners and technology teams.
• Define and monitor data enablement metrics and KPIs to evaluate program effectiveness.
• Drive adoption by communicating value and building cross-functional support.
• Promote compliance with data privacy and security policies (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
• Coach team members with clear goals and collaborative problem-solving.
