Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking a data engineer to own data products end to end. You will design ETL pipelines on Databricks and AWS, unlock governed data, and map scientific questions to robust data designs.

You will collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and translational medicine stakeholders to deliver AI-ready datasets and ensure reliability. You'll work in a fast-paced environment with CI/CD, CDK/CloudFormation, and Claude Code usage, ensuring data quality and reproducibility

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline along with 4+ yrs of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated experience building production data pipelines (ETL/ELT) at scale.
• Very strong SQL, complex joins, window functions, performance tuning, and the judgment to know when a query result is wrong.
• Python for data engineering and data science.
• AWS experience, S3, IAM, Glue, Lambda, ECS and Fargate.
• Containerized service deployment, package a Python service in Docker and ship it to ECS/Fargate through infrastructure as code (AWS CDK / CloudFormation) and a GitHub Actions pipeline, with health checks, secrets from parameter store, and SSO / OIDC authentication.
• CloudOps / DevOps practice: monitoring, alerting, incident response.
• GitHub fluency: branching, pull requests, code review, and GitHub Actions.
• Test-driven and validation-driven approach with automated checks in CI/CD.
• Life sciences data experience spanning clinical, molecular, and assay data.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate and own data products with ETL pipelines on Databricks and AWS.
• Unlock data access by governance and data owner collaboration.
• Translate scientific questions into data models and SQL mappings.
• Implement validation, tests, and evidence of data correctness.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code and secure, auditable deployment pipelines.
• Work with ML engineers to prepare feature-ready datasets for models.
• Collaborate in a GitHub-based CI/CD environment.
