Job summary

Sedgwick is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines across on-prem and cloud data sources. You will serve as a core Snowflake developer, shaping data models, storage structures, and performance tuning while enabling AI-enabled data access.

The role requires five years of data engineering experience, strong Python/SQL skills, and expertise with Snowflake, dbt, and Azure/AWS tools. Travel as needed and mentorship responsibilities are included.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of dedicated data engineering experience building production-grade pipelines.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Snowflake architecture and performance tuning.
• Experience moving data across hybrid environments (on-prem to cloud) using batch, streaming, and event-driven patterns.
• Experience building or maintaining semantic layers for AI or natural-language search capabilities.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with cloud experience (Azure preferred).

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and maintains scalable data pipelines for batch, real-time streaming, and event-driven data movement.
• Core developer for Snowflake data platform; supports performance, data modeling, and storage structures.
• Architects and builds transformation pipelines for Snowflake and dbt AI features.
• Maintains semantic layers and metadata models to support Self-Service 2.0 NL interfaces.
• Establishes reference architectures, reusable templates, and CI/CD practices for safe data products.
• Provides mentorship to one data engineer and guides analysts in engineering practices.
• Drives dbt adoption and evaluates AWS/Azure tools to optimize data flow.
