Lower.com is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team in a hybrid role based in Columbus, OH or Austin, TX. You will own major data warehouse components in Snowflake and lead end-to-end data initiatives, collaborating with Looker and Domo users across stakeholders.

We value strong SQL, data modeling, and production pipeline ownership, plus mentoring teammates and driving architecture decisions in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years in data engineering or related roles with technical ownership.
• Deep SQL expertise and handling large, complex datasets.
• Experience designing production pipelines and data models that others build on.

Responsibilities

• Design and build major components of the data warehouse in Snowflake including ingestion, transformation, and core schema domains.
• Lead ingestion of complex datasets from diverse sources and integrations.
• Define modeling standards using dbt and build curated models, marts, and reusable assets.
• Own complex initiatives end-to-end from scoping to delivery with minimal oversight.
• Solve multi-system data problems and foresee design implications as the business grows.
• Anticipate scalability constraints and propose re-architectures as needed.
• Maintain high code quality through reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Support and troubleshoot production pipelines and incidents involving owned systems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across marketing, sales, operations, finance, product, and BI teams to translate needs into data models and metrics.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence architecture decisions within the team.
