Job summary

Lower is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data & Analytics team. You will design and build major data infrastructure components powering reporting and decision-making, using Snowflake, dbt, Looker, and Domo.

This role carries ownership from scoping to delivery and involves mentoring engineers and coordinating with stakeholders. The position is hybrid in Columbus, OH or Austin, TX, with full-time W2 employment and visa sponsorship not available at this time.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years in data/analytics engineering or similar.
• Deep SQL expertise with large, complex datasets.
• Experience owning production pipelines and data models.
• Experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake/Redshift/BigQuery/Databricks).
• Hands-on dbt or similar transformation framework.
• Strong Python for data processing and orchestration.
• Familiar with Looker, Domo, Tableau or Power BI.
• Ability to mentor engineers and communicate with leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and build warehouse components in Snowflake including ingestion, transformation, and core schema domains.
• Ingest complex datasets from diverse sources and connectors.
• Define modeling standards with dbt and build reusable data assets.
• Own initiatives end-to-end with minimal oversight.
• Solve multi-system data problems and anticipate re-architecture needs.
• Maintain code quality through reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Support production pipelines and incident response.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate needs into data models and metrics.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence architecture decisions.
