Job summary

Lower is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data & Analytics team. You will design and build core data infrastructure powering reporting, analytics, and decision-making, using Snowflake, dbt, Looker, and Domo, while mentoring peers and owning end-to-end initiatives.

You will work in a hybrid setup with locations in Columbus, OH or Austin, TX, and engage with stakeholders across departments to translate needs into trusted data and metrics. Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, BI engineering, or similar data-focused role.
• Deep SQL expertise with large, complex datasets.
• Proven ownership of production pipelines and data models.
• Experience with Snowflake/Redshift/BigQuery/Databricks and performance/cost tuning.
• Experience with dbt or similar transformation framework.
• Proficient in Python for data processing and orchestration.
• Experience with APIs, SFTP, file-based ingestion, and data shares.
• Fluency with Looker, Domo, Tableau, or Power BI and semantic design.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools in real engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Design and build major components of the data warehouse in Snowflake, including ingestion and transformation layers.
• Lead ingestion of complex datasets from diverse sources and integrations.
• Define modeling standards in dbt and build curated models and marts.
• Own end-to-end initiatives with minimal oversight and scalable solutions.
• Resolve data quality, architecture, or process issues proactively.
• Anticipate scalability constraints and plan re-architecture as needed.
• Maintain high code quality through reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Support production pipelines and incident response for owned systems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across marketing, sales, operations, finance, product, and mortgage operations.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence architectural decisions.
