Job summary

Sedgwick is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines across on-prem and cloud sources. You will be a core Snowflake developer, handling data modeling and semantic layers while mentoring a junior engineer.

Responsibilities include establishing reference architectures and CI/CD practices, driving dbt adoption, and evaluating Azure tools to optimize data flow and AI readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Five (5)+ years of dedicated data engineering experience building production-grade pipelines.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Snowflake architecture, performance tuning, and data sharing.
• Experience moving data across hybrid environments, including on-prem to cloud.
• Experience with semantic layers and structuring data for AI/LLM or NLP use cases preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and maintains scalable data pipelines supporting batch, real-time streaming, and event-driven movement from on-premises and cloud sources.
• Core developer for the Snowflake data platform; supports platform performance, data modeling, and storage structures.
• Architects and builds transformation pipelines delivering high-quality inputs to Snowflake and dbt AI features.
• Designs and maintains semantic layers and metadata models for Self-Service 2.0 NLP interfaces.
• Establishes reference architectures, reusable templates, and CI/CD practices for decentralized line-of-business data products.
• Provides management and mentorship to one data engineer, with potential for team growth; guides analysts in engineering practices.
• Drives dbt adoption and evaluates AWS/Azure tools (Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Stream Analytics) to optimize data flow.
