Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, maintain, and optimize scalable data pipelines and data-driven solutions.

You will ingest, store, process, and analyze large data sets, ensuring data quality, reliability, and performance while aligning with enterprise architecture standards. The role collaborates with software engineering and analytics teams to integrate data solutions across platforms, leveraging cloud-native platforms and proven engineering patterns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a science, engineering, or computing field.
• 8+ years designing and building production-grade batch data pipelines for ingestion and transformation.
• 8+ years of overall data engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Databricks, Python, Spark, Git, and Azure (Synapse, ADLS Gen2).
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data warehousing, and data modeling.
• Knowledge of Big Data querying tools and ETL/ELT optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows (Azure Databricks).
• Develop and maintain SAS programs and SSIS packages for data processing.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries for transformations and analytics.
• Build ETL/ELT pipelines from multiple sources and integrate data.
• Choose and support Big Data tools and frameworks for processing and integration.
• Monitor and resolve complex data processing issues and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with product, SRE, and analytics to align data strategy and architecture.
