Job summary

The Hartford is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Data Engineer to support Employee Benefits Sales. You will shape how data is ingested, transformed, and delivered across the organization, working on modern cloud-based data platforms to ensure high-quality, governed data products that drive analytics and decision‑making.

This role combines deep technical expertise with collaboration across Underwriting, Product, and Enterprise Data teams, offering a path to technical leadership and mentoring

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data engineering experience in distributed systems, data warehousing, ETL, CICD, big data and cloud technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Oracle, Informatica Cloud/PowerCenter and GitHub.
• Experience with replication tools such as Qlik, Informatica Mass Ingestion, SharePlex, OpenFlow and DMS.
• Familiar with PySpark/Python and AWS services (EMR, S3, Lambda).

Responsibilities

• Build small to medium-scale pipelines and data products.
• End-to-End solution delivery across platforms using ELT methods.
• Influence solution architecture and guide pipeline tool choices.
• Develop and implement CI/CD data pipelines aligned with DevOps practices.
• Mentor teams and ensure disciplined data engineering practices.
• Document requirements and present complex concepts to varied audiences.
