Job summary

Boeing Employees Credit Union is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and build enterprise data solutions and scalable pipelines in a cloud-native environment. You will partner with architects, product owners, and leadership to deliver secure, reusable data products and services across the organization.

This role emphasizes governance, data quality, and alignment with business needs, with opportunities to mentor teams and contribute to modern cloud modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of functional experience in data engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in Python, Scala, Java, SQL.
• Demonstrated experience using cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Demonstrated experience using Modern data platforms (Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Redshift, Big Query, Snowflake).
• Demonstrated experience using ETL/ELT, SQL, and cloud data integration tools and Azure Services (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Event Hubs, Azure Storage, Azure functions, Container apps, API Management.”)
• Demonstrated experience using SQL, data modeling, data warehousing, data analysis including designing, building and supporting enterprise scale operational data stores (ODS), data warehouses and data lake/ Lakehouse solutions.
• Experience using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery systems and tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub.
• Experience using Git, performing code reviews, pull requests, and following branching standards such as Git Flow or Trunk-Based Development.

Responsibilities

• Design Enterprise Data Solutions: Design and develop complex, multi-tier systems for cloud-native data solutions and integration services.
• Build Scalable Data Pipelines: Develop complex data workflows including batch, near real-time, and API-based integrations.
• Drive Technical Innovation: Create prototypes and scalable data solutions balancing technical excellence with business needs.
• Champion Data Governance: Implement metadata management, data quality, lineage, and governance practices.
• Enable Data Curation: Guide data policies across platforms and workflows.
• Support and Mentor Data Engineering Teams: Lead design/code reviews and testing efforts.
• Collaborate on Technology Strategy: Document roadmaps and cloud modernization initiatives.
• Elevate Engineering Excellence: Contribute to CI/CD, automated testing, and coding standards.
• Enhance Reliability and Observability: Improve pipeline monitoring and reliability.
• Leverage Modern Engineering Tools: Use automation/AI tools like GitHub Copilot to improve productivity.
• Partner Across Functions: Work with architecture, governance, security, and platform teams to deliver secure data products.
• Communicate Technical Expertise: Present topics to engineering audiences and grow capabilities.
• Ensure Compliance and Security: Adhere to regulatory and information protection requirements.
