Job summary

Ad Hoc LLC is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and scale data pipelines supporting critical government services. You will influence data strategy, collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and analysts, and mentor junior engineers.

You will lead architecture discussions, ensure data quality and governance, and build cloud‑native data platforms across Snowflake, Databricks, and other services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years designing and maintaining enterprise data platforms and pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills with large datasets; experience in optimization.
• Programming experience in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and cloud data platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Familiarity with Snowflake/Databricks/Redshift/BigQuery/Azure Synapse.
• Knowledge of data modeling, governance, and lineage practices.
• Experience with Spark and CI/CD for data engineering.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines for batch and real‑time processing.
• Develop robust ETL/ELT workflows transforming raw data into usable datasets.
• Build data models, warehouses, and cloud‑native data architectures.
• Handle structured to unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Propose architectures and lead data engineering initiatives.
• Ensure quality, governance, security, and observability across platforms.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, analysts, and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring decisions.
• Present designs and implementation strategies to clients and teams.
