Job summary

9amHealth is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own and evolve the data platform powering clinical operations and AI initiatives. This hands-on, full-stack role requires expert Python and SQL, AWS Glue/Redshift, and the ability to deploy data models and analytics assets across Looker and Tableau.

The role blends software engineering with data at a startup pace, with a global team and flexible work-from-home options.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional data engineering or related backend software experience.
• Deep Python development for production data pipelines and ETL logic.
• Expert SQL skills including window functions and performance tuning.
• Hands-on with AWS data services (Glue, S3, Redshift, Athena) and IAM.
• Experience with Spark, dbt, Airflow or equivalent orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with BI platforms (Looker or Tableau) and semantic modeling.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools and modern engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows in Python on AWS.
• Write production-grade Python code for DWH logic, data transformations, and tooling.
• Develop analytical data models for self-service BI and analytics use cases.
• Build dashboards and semantic models in Looker/Tableau, ensuring data quality and governance.
• Contribute backend code in Java or Python to support data features and integrations.
• Champion AI coding practices and integrate tools like Copilot into workflows.
• Author SQL assets across Redshift, Aurora/MySQL, and Athena.
• Operate and optimize AWS data infrastructure (Glue, S3, Redshift, CloudFormation, IAM).
