Job summary

Garner Health in New York City is seeking a Senior Data Engineer who owns end-to-end data pipelines and helps scale a modern data stack with Python and SQL in AWS. Based in NYC, you will join a mission-driven team and work three days per week in the office, building reusable datasets for BI, marketing, and data science, while protecting privacy and security.

The role emphasizes ownership, fast delivery, and collaboration with cross-functional partners to unlock insights that improve healthcare

Qualifications

• 4+ years in software/data engineering (distributed data processing, data warehousing, governance)
• Expertise in SQL, strong Python
• Experience building scalable data pipelines and data modeling
• Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow), PostgreSQL, Iceberg, Snowflake
• Expertise with Spark, medallion and event-driven architectures
• Familiarity with healthcare or insurance
• Familiarity with data security and HIPAA compliance
• Strong ownership and accountability in a high-performing team

Responsibilities

• Build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines that power the business
• Define and build out abstracted reusable data sets for BI, Marketing, and Data Science Research
• Design, build, and evangelize a federated data validation framework to monitor data inconsistencies
• Protect users' privacy and security through best practices
