Job summary

Fermi America seeks a Senior Data Center Technical Specialist to act as the technical authority for all data center engineering and infrastructure systems across its hyperscale program. You will oversee electrical, mechanical, controls, fire protection, and BMS, ensuring design standards and vendor commitments yield reliable infrastructure.

The role interfaces with consultants, integrators, and the engineering partners to ensure conformance to Fermi’s basis of design and to drive standardization

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in data center engineering, technical program management, or critical-infrastructure delivery.
• 8+ years in hyperscale or mission-critical environments.
• Deep knowledge across all data center MEP disciplines including power, cooling, controls, and fire protection.
• Active field presence during installation, startup, and commissioning.
• Experience as owner’s technical representative with design-build partners.
• Experience with lump-sum turnkey or design-build delivery models.
• Technical authority on multibillion-dollar data center programs with owner standards.
• Strong vendor management, procurement, and commissioning oversight.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority across all data center MEP disciplines and ensure standards compliance.
• Hold partners accountable to basis of design and technical standards throughout construction.
• Verify installed work against design documents and vendor data through field reviews.
• Identify and resolve technical nonconformances and maintain issue registers.
• Own operability and turnkey turnover readiness from a technical perspective.
• Review design deliverables with external consultants and ensure conformance with owner standards.
• Own vendor qualification processes for critical data center equipment.
• Collaborate with campus Engineering Team on design reviews and commissioning.
• Monitor technology trends to inform the program’s technical roadmap.
• Foster strong cross-functional relationships and mutual accountability.
