Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer to lead the design of electrical power distribution products for AWS data centers worldwide. You will guide concepts from ideation to implementation, collaborating with design, operations, and procurement to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency.

This role requires strong problem solving, hands-on engineering, and the ability to coordinate across multiple countries and teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
• 4+ years of experience in Electrical or Mechanical Product Design for Power Distribution Equipment, or 4+ years of Data Center or Mission-Critical Design, Construction, or Operations.

Responsibilities

• Support Data Center Design Engineering, Principal Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to develop innovative power distribution concepts.
• Lead new product design and development, collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and solicit customer input.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, reliability, QA/QC, and compliance disciplines to create well‑thought‑out products.
• Develop designs that meet or exceed quality requirements while delivering a strong return on investment.
• Specify electronic equipment, devices, and bill of materials in partnership with global suppliers and manufacturers.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes across multiple countries.
• Prepare, review, and approve product designs, drawings, electrical bills of materials, layouts, assemblies, and construction wiring diagrams.
• Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests during manufacturing phases.
• Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to establish test processes and validate product installation, operation, and performance.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects across various geographical regions.
• Support operations through failure‑mode analysis, root‑cause analysis, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operating procedure review.
• Act as a leader within the group and support internal and external teams throughout the data center lifecycle.
