Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Design Engineer with an Electrical Engineering background for electrical power distribution products used in data centers.

You will lead design and development from concept to implementation, define equipment specs, and evaluate design changes while collaborating across disciplines. Travel up to 30% may be required domestically, with potential international trips.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ Years of experience of Electrical Infrastructure Design; OR 8+ years of Data Center or Mission‑Critical Design, Construction, or Operations
• Professional Engineering or Architectural License
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents

Responsibilities

• Support the Data Center Design Engineering, Principal Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to design and develop innovative concepts into new products needed for power distribution for data center.
• Lead new product design, development and work with internal teams to understand design requirements and solicit customer input.
• Collaborate with other disciplines such as mechanical and structural engineering, reliability, QA/QC and compliance to create well thought out products.
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment, devices and bill of materials.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries.
• Prepare, Review and approval of product design and drawings including electrical bill of materials, configuration, layouts, assembly, construction and electrical wiring drawings.
• Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during manufacturing phases.
• Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly set up test processes and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.
