Job summary

Switch is seeking a Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer to optimize critical DC infrastructure across data centers. You will lead RCA investigations, develop corrective actions, and partner with cross-functional teams to improve capacity, availability and efficiency of electrical and mechanical systems.

You will analyze trends, support capital projects, and coordinate with Operations, Design Engineering, and Field teams to ensure standards and reliability.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or higher; PE preferred.
• Understand electrical and mechanical systems in DC environment (feeders, transformers, UPS, ATS/STS, PDU, AHU, cooling towers, pumps, fire suppression).
• Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, schematics, SOPs, submittals, and MEP drawings packages.
• Strong skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Understand data analysis methodologies and statistics; apply to leadership guidance.
• Excel at analyzing datasets and guiding decisions; implement solutions.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and perform RCA; document corrective actions for equipment failures.
• Support operational teams as SME for issue resolution and event response.
• Perform availability, capacity, efficiency, and sustainability analyses for electrical systems.
• Monitor data center performance trends for improvements and capital projects.
• Develop and own conceptual designs for upgrades to improve capacity and reliability.
• Provide feedback to Design Engineering on infrastructure solutions.
• Act as resident engineer for construction and retrofit projects.
• Coordinate with Operations, Design Engineering, Field Eng, and EH&S to ensure standards.
