Job summary

Switch is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design electrical systems for data centers across the United States. You will develop reliable, cost-effective designs, support engineering standards, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners to deliver projects from design through construction.

The role blends hands-on technical work with coordination across multiple stakeholders, reviews by consultants, and ongoing design-standard development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Approximately 4 to 7 years designing electrical systems for mission-critical facilities or data centers.
• Experience with medium- and low-voltage power distribution.
• Knowledge of generators, UPS, grounding, protection, and distribution equipment.
• Experience applying NEC, NFPA, UL, ANSI, and other electrical codes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Travel up to 25% domestically.

Responsibilities

• Design medium- and low-voltage electrical systems for data center projects.
• Develop designs meeting performance, reliability, cost and constructability goals.
• Review and manage work by external engineering consultants.
• Create and maintain electrical design standards, specifications, and processes.
• Evaluate new equipment and technologies for future projects.
• Support design reviews throughout planning, construction, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, civil and construction teams to resolve design issues.
• Work with utilities, authorities having jurisdiction, vendors and contractors.
• Identify technical risks and propose practical solutions.
• Travel domestically as needed (<25%).
