Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Sr. Presales Engineer - Physical Infrastructure to support in-market opportunities for data center rack and cabinet solutions.

The candidate will conduct on-site assessments, develop technical designs, and provide pricing and proposals for Racks, Containment, UPS, and related components. The role collaborates with regional sales teams, consultants, and customers across data center, enterprise IT, telecom, edge, and modernization projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent
• 8–10 years of directly related work experience preferred
• Strong technical knowledge of power and data center infrastructure solutions
• Ability to engage customers in both technical and sales discussions

Responsibilities

• Conduct site walks to assess customer infrastructure, white space layouts, rack environments, power distribution, containment needs, airflow challenges, and future expansion requirements
• Develop technical specifications and solution designs for rack and cabinet infrastructure, including racks, containment, cable management, airflow, and UPS
• Provide pricing, proposals, and solution recommendations for rack, containment, UPS, rPDU, and related opportunities
• Identify cross-competitive opportunities where customers use alternative rack, cabinet, containment, UPS, or power distribution solutions
• Collaborate with regional sales teams to support account strategy and opportunity development
• Engage with customers, consultants, contractors, distributors, and partners to understand project requirements and recommend solutions
• Support the sales process from discovery through proposal with technical clarification and configuration guidance
• Coordinate with internal engineering, product management, and pricing teams to ensure accurate solutions and lead times
• Provide product education and technical guidance to sales teams, consultants, and customers
• Maintain a strong pipeline and report on site activity and market trends
• Assist with customer presentations, product demonstrations, trade shows, and regional initiatives
