Job summary

SB Energy, a SoftBank Group company, seeks a Principal Architect to lead the Data Center team in Redwood City, CA or other U.S. sites.

You will set architectural standards, drive design excellence, and provide technical leadership across large, mission-critical campuses. You will collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to translate requirements into repeatable standards, while ensuring cost, schedule, and performance objectives are met.

Qualifications

• Professional architecture degree and active license in at least one US jurisdiction.
• 15+ years of architectural design and delivery experience, including hyperscale data centers or comparable facilities.
• Senior technical contributor leading architectural scope and coordinating consultants on complex projects.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and BIM coordination platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain architectural standards, prototypes, specs, and design criteria aligned with SB Energy standards.
• Lead campus planning and building test fits for data halls and support facilities.
• Provide technical direction to external design consultants and coordinate design reviews.
• Review drawings and specs for compliance, cost, schedule, and constructability; document deviations.
• Guide code, life safety, accessibility, occupancy, and fire separation strategies with architects and authorities.
• Coordinate with risk, insurance, operations, and engineers to integrate criteria and protection measures.
