Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) in the United States to lead architecture and deliver production-grade data/AI solutions on the Databricks platform. You will own engineering design decisions, implement end-to-end systems, and collaborate with customers, product teams, and engineers to maximize value from data.

The role is hands-on and customer-facing, requiring strong coding skills (Python/Scala/JS), cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP), and deep Spark knowledge.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Comfortable writing code in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks
• Working knowledge of two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs
• Design and deployment of data architectures and applications combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces
• Experience with technical project delivery - managing scope, timelines and measurable outcomes, translating complex concepts into actionable solutions
• Documentation and white-boarding skills
• Experience with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across stakeholders
• Willingness to travel to customers 20% of the time
• Databricks Certification

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade data and AI solution delivery, aligning with customer requirements.
• Design end-to-end architectures spanning data engineering, AI, and applications.
• Build reference architectures and custom data ingestion and model integration.
• Guide strategic customers through design, build and deployment of big data projects.
• Ensure secure, scalable architectures aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, and customer teams to meet engagement goals.
• Provide product and support feedback for rapid issue resolution.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver measurable impact.
