Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Senior Clinical Laboratory Technician for the Pathology & Immunology department.

The role performs routine and special cytogenetics assays (chromosome analysis, FISH, microarray) in the Clinical Cytogenomics lab, with opportunities for advancement to Technologist I. Training includes G-banded chromosome classification and use of specialized software, with emphasis on quality, regulatory compliance, and data management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
• Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - ASCP Board of Certification is preferred.
• No specific work experience required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Performs chromosome analysis, chromosomal microarray, and Fluorescent In-Situ Hybridization (FISH) in the Washington University Clinical Cytogenomics lab.
• Hands-on training in recognition and classification of G-banded chromosomes using microscopes and specialized software.
• Performs routine assays per SOPs, processes specimens, maintains instruments, and handles lab supplies.
• Assesses sample quality, participates in problem solving, and assists with data compilation for supervision.
• Assists with validation of new assays and documents activities to meet regulatory requirements.
