Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a senior cytogenetics/genomics lab professional to perform complex genetic assays and provide oversight for routine and non-routine tasks. You will work with lab management to optimize workflows, ensure safety and accuracy, and support education of staff while maintaining strict compliance with CAP and CLIA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• 5 years' experience in Cytogenetics/genomics lab OR 4 years with certified training including CLIA requirements.
• CG(ASCP)CM or MB(ASCP)CM certification with ongoing CE documentation.
• Working knowledge of CAP guidelines.
• Strong communication, mentoring, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform benchwork, analysis, and reporting of genetic or genomic assays with high accuracy.
• Pre-director tech checking of straightforward and complex cases and reports.
• Contribute to operations beyond routine testing, including QM and SOP improvements.
• Assist with validation efforts and process improvements in the area.
• Oversee training and orientation of lab staff; plan workload and workflow.
