Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an experienced Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory Scientist to independently perform a wide range of technical procedures in the Cytogenetics and Genomics section of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Responsibilities include method development, instrument repair, sample processing, reagent prep, data entry, and workload assessment.

Licensure and extensive karyotype/FISH experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current California state Cytogenetics CLS License.
• At least 10 years of laboratory experience in both karyotype and FISH study of cancer samples.
• Ability to use laboratory's application programs and perform data checks.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform a wide variety of technical procedures in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics.
• Develop/modify parallel testing methods and repair laboratory instruments.
• Process specimens and report results within licensure scope.
• Assess workload and provide assistance as needed.
