Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Cytology Technician to join the team in a clinical laboratory setting. You will process and stain cytology specimens, prepare smears and blocks, and assist with rapid evaluations and interventional procedures under the Cytology Supervisor.

Responsibilities also include equipment upkeep, quality control, inventory, data entry, and reporting results to clinicians. The role requires at least two years of applicable experience and college-level science units with algebra,

Qualifications

• Two years of applicable experience.
• Minimum 16 units of applicable Science (such as Chemistry, Biology) and Algebra at the college level.
• Knowledge of medical computer software systems.

Responsibilities

• Process and sort multiple specimens and stain cytology samples.
• Prepare direct smears, cytospins, cell blocks and other specimens from FNA.
• Assist with rapid evaluations and GI interventional procedures as needed.
• Assist with equipment maintenance, quality control, inventory control and data entry.
• Provide results to clinicians and compile data for monthly statistics.
